DT New West Has Never Been So Hip & Uncovered

We break down the top 5 moment that had us shook

1) The Tragically Hip at Columbia StrEAT

As if the 90+ food trucks and 6 beer gardens wasn't enough this year. Columbia StrEAT got even more hip this summer with the addition of The Tragically Hip broadcast.

In partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society and the CBC, Downtown New West threw an all-out summer street party like never before.

We even made front page news!

2) Pokemon Go Craze

The popular app became a worldwide sensation over night and Downtown New West definitely felt it in the streets.

All along the quay, at River Market and along Columbia Street, users were glued to their phones trying to catch 'em all.

Some businesses even hosted walking tours...with huge success!

3) Yoga at Westminster Pier Park

The Lila Summer Series presented by lululemon yoga was a true hit this summer.

Yoga enthusiasts from all over Metro Vancouver participated in the summer long series, bringing positive energy to our vibrant community.

4) New Businesses To The Neighbourhood

Downtown New West has seen immense changes in the past few years, but 2016 saw new businesses opening up our cozy streets.

From new restaurants like Patsara Thai, Banh Mi Bar and Pho Pho You...

...to new shops like Good Omen and Mila + Paige...

...to a series of new services like Suggarays Gym and Karma Teachers New Westminster.

And more are coming! See who / what's arriving in the new year, HERE

5) Uncovering Front Street

Earlier this year, the Front Street parkade came crashing down as a part of the new development plan for Front Street Mews.

The tear down turned out to be exquisitely photogenic...

...and our businesses even made lemonade out of these lemons.

As we leave 2016 behind, we are mere months away from the project's completion in early 2017.
